When birth is difficult, the primitive brain knows it! Already, the brain is awake inutero, and registers the ease of effort of birth. A difficult birth can create the above behaviors, and shape the brain to respond to stress in a protective manner developed when the infant was completely overwhelmed. That is not a good map to use in childhood or adult life.
